You might not recognize the name but Steve Duberry’s music — like the catchy Our Song — speaks for itself. We talk to the award-winning electronic producer about his start, working with legends, and his new projects with Sarah Sarah!

Who are you?

I am a Grammy nominated songwriter and producer (also awarded with BMIs, 2 million airplay award and Ivor Novello). I have written for an eclectic mix of artists from Tina Turner to Simon Webbe, from Joe Cocker to Kim Wilde. I am currently working with the Jacksons on their new album, Sarah Sarah, and I have just finished writing for Flo Rida.
I have also written music for major television and film productions including Football Italia, World Rally, Ch4 Horse racing, FA Cup soccer…

How did you get into making music?

I always used to love making tunes at home. I had just finished writing this demo, and bumped into the international artist Sade in London whilst visiting a friend. I asked her to listen to it, and before I knew it, it had been passed to Tina Turner who used it for the title track to her movie. I was invited to LA to produce it, and ‘I Don’t Wanna Fight’ was number 1 world wide and nominated for a Grammy! After that I was offered a major publishing deal and I have never looked back!

What’s the inspiration behind the song and music video?

‘Our Song’ is about somebody cheating on their partner to ‘their song’!
The inspiration behind the music comes from creating an uplifting edm track, but coupling it with a melodic vocal. My inspiration is always to explore new sounds but keeping it true to the genre.
The video is a tongue in cheek depiction of how to dump your cheating partner throughout the ages, from the Victorian era through to modern day.

What should fans look out for?

I have just released a new single ‘Asteroid’ featuring Sarah Sarah, with the video in post production now.
I am also working on the new Jacksons’ album, and have just had a song in the recent Sony Pictures movie ‘When the Game Stands Tall’
I am also currently in the studio with Sarah Sarah working on some banging tunes for the forthcoming album!
