The song“Insane” is from the Dirty Lie album recorded in 2015. The music and compositions were formed over a ten year period as a result of Ivan playing around pubs and clubs in Melbourne in various bands. The music and film clip are totally organic, the song was part of a set list that was played around Melbourne in a three-piece band called Crimson Face, fronted by Ivan. Due to some tragic circumstances in which the longtime bass player was brutally assaulted and put in a coma in an incident outside his home, Crimson Face wasn’t able to continue playing. Throughout this period the band only managed to record some rough demos of the songs. Frustrated by spending three years playing in this band and being left with nothing to show for it, Ivan decided to record the songs solo and produce them himself. These songs are the end result of a lot of blood, sweat and tears, which may explain the aggressive sound and the air of frustration in the lyrics.
